G/A Power Consumption Estimation Tool

The G/A power consumption estimation tool allows you to estimate gate array power consumption by inputting values for required items and clicking the "Estimate" button. The estimation resulted from the input information appears in the blank box at the bottom of the format.

If the window is too small to show the entire format for data input, a red line appears on the right or at the bottom of window. In this case, expand the window first.

For how to start the G/A power consumption estimation tool, please refer to the "How to start the tool"section.

Fix the panel size When this button is not activated, the size of the data input format automatically changes according to the window size. When the button is activated, the format size remains the current size regardless of the window size. If you expand the window with this button inactive and then activate the button, you can scroll the format and view the desired part in a small window.
(use Cookie) Appears when this tool can access the cookie. The information you input is saved in the cookie by clicking the "Estimate" button. This program retrieves the saved information if you re-start the tool within 100 days.
(use dat File) Appears when this tool cannot access the cookie, but can write and read data to and from the dat file, <tt>"epson_ic.dat"</tt> in the home directory. This tool saves the input information in this file when "Estimate" button is clicked and retrieves the input information when you start the tool next time.
(read datFile/cannot write) Appears when this tool cannot access the cookie, but can read out information from the dat file, epson_ic.dat," though cannot write to the file. This tool cannot save the information you input to the tool, but can retrieve the information previously saved in this file.
(cannot load/save setting) Appears when this tool can access neither cookie, nor dat file. This tool cannot save the information you input to the tool, but the estimation function works.
Tip When this button is activated, a brief explanation appears for the item where you place the mouse pointer.
Font Click this button, then you can change the fonts for the title and data respectively.
All C. All the input information is cleared and all the selective items are returned to the default settings.
Series Select the series to use. For the series requiring to select options, a line of options appears; select an option.
Power Supply Voltage Input the power supply voltage. When using a single power supply, input only LVdd.
Logic Cir. Info. Total circuit size and avarage clock frequency of the folloing 3 circutly data are displayed.
Control c.
Alithmetic
Select whether the most of the logic circuit is "Control" or "Arithmetic" circuit.; When both types of circuits evenly exist, select "Cont+Alith." Depending on the selection made here, the coefficients used to estimate register and gate counts.
Register If the number of registers are known, select this and input the number. If "Gates" is not selected, it is estimated by this number.
Gate If the gate count are known, select this and input the number. If "Register" is not selecteded, it is estimated by this number.
Clock Enter the clock frequency. If the kind of clock frequency is not only 3, enter the total size of multiple circuitly and the average frequency.
RAM If RAM is embedded, input the type, size, instance count, and clock frequency. You can input up to 10 types of RAM cells. If you enter 1 or greater number in the field of RAM cell instance count, the corresponding RAM cell number is shown in reverse; confirm whether any unnecessary input is made in the hidden lines.
Total power consumption of other macro cells When other special macro cells are used, input the total power consumption of all macro cells in units of mW.
Use of Power Compiler Click the small square when using Power Compiler. When using Power Compiler, 35% of the logic part power consumption is subtracted.
Output Pin, Bi-dir Pin Input the number of output and bi-directional pins driven by each power supply (L-type and H-type) and their load capacitance. When the "Frequency=" is inactive, typical average operating frequency is automatically input. When the "Frequency=" is active, you can change (input) the value. If the groups are more than 3, enter the total pin count and average load capacitance (and avegare frequency).
Estimate Clicking this button estimates the power consumption from the information input and shows the resultant value in the blank space under the button.
